  • Contacts number in phonecopy appears 126 and my iphone contact contains more than 2300. Its seems phonecopy did not recognize all contacts stored on my iphone. I have iphone 4 with version 8.1 mahooni, 24/11/2014
  • I have had subscription to 12 November. On 17 Oct I backed up my iPhone contacts (about 550) and to my horror realized my contact list was doubled. Full of duplicates, though not in a consistent way. Just a mess, and of course my own records are idiosyncratic. Though of course I have been dismayed and annoyed, I've had no time to study the PhoneCopy website, and have here and there tried to clean up my collection. But it is hopeless. So I have come to the website today, with the intent to pay the bill so I can keep the mess rather than lose it all. However, I am baffled to see that there has been a major deletion of essential contacts. The number is much lower, (573) but it is intolerable that those contacts were reduced by a random slash. I'm sure you have an explanation, and I'll wait for it as well donate $25, because I think you mean well. But I need an explanation. I have a US iPhone 4S; the battery is dead and it cannot be replaced outside of the US, and I am not returning there for some months. So I don't even have a working phone with my broken contacts collection. I have no trust to download it on to a new iPhone that will be here in a few weeks, so I'll get some local phone. What would you do to recover the contacts on to a temporary phone? At this point I want the entire collection with all the duplicates and have it edited offline. Life is too short for this mess. joablack, 14/11/2014
    • Also please check duplicates manager first to clean our identical copies of same contacts to get cleaned address book. https://www.phonecopy.com/en/duplicates/ Phonecopy support team, 14/11/2014
    • First of all, sorry for any problems with PhoneCopy. When i look to your profile there is 1574 active contacts. When you can see number of 573? To get contacts recovered to temporery phone you just need to donwload PhoneCopy application and log in as existing user to it. Then you will get immediately contacts synchronized to your new phone. Because when I tried to, it poped up a message saying that : it will remove all it's data. That means that it will remove the contacts that I had transfered trough PhoneCopy? mariusc, 14/10/2014

I got the usual warnings that the contacts already in my phone would be deleted & replaced with those in PhoneCopy. sabnis, 18/08/2014
    • Hello, PhoneCopy supports synchronizing of default contact database only (it's typycally iPhone local contact database or iCloud).

Actually - you can sync only one contact source - default contact source (due to the side effects and hassle of iOS contact APIs).

You can go to the iPhone settings, then "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and there you can look, which contacts services you have besides "default contact database". Is it Exchnage or Facebook, CardDAV or LDAP?
Also check field “Default account” in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars” settings please - this account is synchronized with PhoneCopy.com server.

Recommended procedure: select your local iPhone contacts or iCloud as “default account”, back up this default contact account with PhoneCopy app and in the case of phone crash or phone upgrade, restore these contacts back with PhoneCopy and then register all your external contact accounts as GMail, Exchange etc. on the new phone - and voila, all your contacts are back.

Now, we are in intensive rethinking stage of the whole problem with more contact accounts - we are working on the solution, that synchronizes all contact accounts (with apropriate UI warnings and selections). Will be available in the next version of PhoneCopy application. We will do our best to make it total simple for the user - this is our priority for years.

    • Hello! What do you mean by "I keep losing number of my contacts"? Can you describe it in more detail? You have two iPhones, roght? Both is your active phones? What do you want to do with contacts? Move between iPhones or something else? Thanks for details. Phonecopy support team, 24/06/2014
      • Thanks for the response.
I have two iphones, both have the same contacts.
When I sychronize on phonecopy (installed on the phones), on either of the phones, the number of contacts diminishes. For example, following the synchronization last week, the number of contacts was reduced from 314 to 197. I had to retrieve the lost contacts from the deleted contacts from the phonecopy.
        mazbajwa, 24/06/2014
  • Now that the device Nokia phone has been deleted, so have all my contacts. Can this be recovered? These are the contacts I need. Please, all I want to do is get my contacts from my old phone to my new phone. Why is this so difficult?

45 days ago I backup-up cellphone contacts to Phonecopy and 29 days ago I synced to my new iPhone5S successfully after deleting some contacts to bring the total below 500. Great, but then a week ago all my cellphone contacts vanished from the phone, and now refuses to sync since Phonecopy claims I have over 1000 contacts. Now I have all my email contacts but no cellphone numbers. Help
    nieljonker, 09/05/2014
    • Hi, you account is blocked as you exceeded limit of two devices. Number of contacts fits the limit. Please manage your devices and your account will be unlocked. Alternativelly you can buy Premium subscription. Phonecopy support team, 09/05/2014
      • But I HAVE managed the device, reducing the number of contacts to 485 contacts on the Phonecopy web interface. All I need is these contact numbers on my phone since the email contacts sync separately from my iPad. Now the new iPhone shows 1068 email contacts and no phone contacts. Please help. REPEAT: all I need is to get the 485 phone contacts onto the new phone as Phonecopy promised. Or are you trying to catch me into subscribing?!! nieljonker, 10/05/2014
        • I understand, but as i wrote before, your account is blocked because you are using three devices. Delete at least one device from your online profile and account will be unlocked: https://www.phonecopy.com/en/devices/ . It is nothing related to number of contacts. • is there anyway to get the data back?

  • Using PCalendars I'm trying to sync the calendar info on the server to my iPhone 5. Firstly I get an error 'There are no local writable calendar on this device. (nothing to syncronize). First create a calendar by adding an event in calendar application'. I'm not worried about this as it's the info on the server I'm trying to put on the iPhone. But when go to 'account settings-> select sync direction-> server to this device' it appears to try and sync then comes up with the error 'New calendar events have come from server. Choose the calendar in which new events are supposed to be saved'. There are no options to do this, only a button which says 'Cancel syncronization'. Any ideas? melonhead, 09/07/2013
    • Hello,

did you manage to solve this issue with 'New calendar events have come from server. Choose the calendar in which new events are supposed to be saved'?
If not, can you give an estimate when it will be solved?

      Thank you!

      • Hello!

PCalendars application supports synchronizing of local calendars only (stored on the iPhone / iPad).
iCloud calendars (remotely stored on the Apple servers) and other subscribed calendars like MS Exchnage etc. will be supported in the future (not supported yet).

You need to create local calendar.
Try to run default Calendar app and click top-left button "Calendars" and then click "Edit" button to add local calendars.
Unfortunately, if you have some iCloud calendars already, you are not able to create any local calendar in default Calendar app from Apple. Sad.

You can disable iCloud calendars in the iPhone settings - "Mail, Contact, Calendars…", then create local calendar in Calendar app and then make calendar sync from PhoneCopy server with PCalendars app and then you can enable iCloud calendars again, if you want.

We will find workaround for this in the next version of PCalendars app.

Also - make sure you have enabled PCalendars application in Privacy settings (go to iPhone settings and then "Privacy" and then "Calendars").

    • Hello! Do you use iCloud? If yes, try this (and let us know):

Go to iPhone settings, then "Mail, contacts, calendars..." and disable calendars in your iCloud account. Then, start PCalendars app, sync calendars from PhoneCopy.com server to your device (iPhone) and then you can enable iCloud calendars again.

We are preparing app update (fix for your situation).

      • Hi, unfortunately I'd already tried that without success. Any other suggestions? If not I'll wait for the update... Cheers! melonhead, 10/07/2013
  • I need to sync my cal not my contacts.... I am feeling like this app does nothing dlsdln28, 11/04/2013
    • Are you using PCalendar by PhoneCopy App? Phonecopy support team, 11/04/2013
      • Yes, but the calendar on my iOS is from lotus notes dlsdln28, 12/04/2013
        • Hello, if your Lotus Notes software synchronizes calendar events into local iPhone calendar, PCalendars application will be able to synchronize it towards phonecopy.com server and to your other devices. According to your profile you have not used the application PCalendars yet. If you have problems, please contact support by email at support@phonecopy.com Phonecopy support team, 12/04/2013
          • When I run the app it says no syncronizable calendars found dlsdln28, 12/04/2013
            • Maybe, Lotus Notes have their completely own calendar system. PCalendars supports only local calendars now. You need to create them (in default Calendar iPhone app). Let us know. Phonecopy support team, 12/04/2013
              • No it uses the iOS cal just like exchange dlsdln28, 12/04/2013

                  • Well thanks for ll the replies - I feel a little upset as I paid a donation to get the premium version hoping that would allow me to sync calendars - really I got an app that virtually does nothing. If I wanted to sync contacts I could do that brought the cloud or using contctmover which works perfect with exchange and costs 2.99 dlsdln28, 12/04/2013
        • Then we will have to analyze what should be wrong. My coleague from technical department will contact you via email and will try to solve the issue. Thank you for feedback. Phonecopy support team, 12/04/2013

    • Hi I synced sony phone with phone copy, I chose delete the contacts on phone, but it actually synced two way. then I downloaded the copy of contacts from phonecopy to iphone, now I chose the same option but it deleted all contacts existing from my iphone, anyway to retrieve? praperiy, 17/08/2014
      • Any deleted contacts can be found and restored from Deleted Contacts folder https://www.phonecopy.com/en/contact/deleted Phonecopy support team, 17/08/2014
        • Hi

I think you did not get my issue right. I downloaded contacts from phonecopy server to my iPhone where it overwrite my existing contacts, so 181 contacts are lost. could you do something about it because i had switched off data so there was no backup on iTunes or iCloud. any ways to retrieve it?
          praperiy, 21/08/2014
          • Hi, if you selected single directional synchronization from server to device you were noticed your contacts in the phone will be replaced by contacts from the server. There is not any possibility to restore contacts deleted in this way as those contacts were never stored in our server. Sorry Phonecopy support team, 21/08/2014
    • Hi, don't worry. Just go to www.phonecopy.com to Contacts page, press "Deleted Contacts" and you will see all your deleted contacts. You can restore it and on next sync you will get it back to your phone. Phonecopy support team, 29/09/2011
      • Hi, Thanks for your response. I could restore all. But somehow now the contacts are doubled in number. There are about 2000+ on i4 instead of 979 on Phonecopy. I think the while syncing on phone, even the phone contacts were restored from somewhere !! I have a task to delete the repetitions. But 1000+ is quite a task. Also I have a question, what is the 'Export' feature? Can you explain? Thanks again !! cinane, 29/09/2011
        • Hi, for duplicities you can use "More Actions > Search for Duplicities" on contacts page. Export feature means possibility to export all your contacts to file which can be downloaded to your PC for any case. Also if you will be interested to keep copy of your contacts on you PC you can use PhoneCopy for Windows. Phonecopy support team, 30/09/2011
